Turn ideas into action with AAUW’s new interactive advocacy workshops.
Looking for a new way to engage your members, welcome community partners, and make a difference on issues that matter to your branch?
AAUW’s Advocacy in Action workshops bring people together to build practical advocacy skills and develop a plan for creating change. Whether your branch is interested in education, economic security, civil rights, or another AAUW policy priority, we’ll help you turn that interest into a concrete plan for action.
Workshops are free for AAUW branches, available virtually and through a limited number of in-person sessions at no cost.
Advocacy in Action is more than a presentation. It’s a chance for members to work together, share ideas, and learn a process they can use to make an impact.
During the workshop, participants will:
No previous advocacy experience is necessary. The workshops are designed for members at all levels of experience and offer a great opportunity to invite prospective members and community partners to participate.
Whether you’re looking for a fresh branch program, a way to reengage members, or an opportunity to bring people together around a local issue, Advocacy in Action can help.
Workshops can be tailored to your branch’s needs and offered in 60-, 90-, or 120-minute formats.
Space is limited, so we encourage interested branches to submit a request.

Advocacy in Action is offered in memory of Lavona Grow, a longtime member of AAUW’s Arlington, VA and McLean Area branches and a dedicated Lobby Corps volunteer who passed away in January 2026. Lavona believed in the power of advocacy and wanted to see more people get involved in making a difference. Through a gift from her husband, Bob Denniston, AAUW is honoring her commitment by helping members across the country build the skills and confidence to turn their advocacy goals into action.
